What It’s All About
Designers create fashions from paper donated by our paper sponsors (representatives of the best quality and widest variety of papers available). These fashions are showcased at our grand runway show, and voted on by a panel of judges.
How It Works
Designs may be for men or women, and will be showcased by runway models–you may provide your own model, or we can provide talent for you. We will also provide hair and make-up services for models, if needed.
Student teams $30 | Designer teams $50
This price includes admission to the show for TWO of the designers and only those two get to go backstage before the event. Please note, this has changed since last year.
Fashion designs will be included in a live auction following the runway show. All proceeds benefit Downtown Aurora Visual Arts.
Design Criteria
- Additional details for design criteria will be provided upon registration.
- All fashion must be made of PAPER. Paper is provided by xpedx® and the mills they represent at no charge.
- Binding techniques such as sewing, glue, tape, and wire are allowed.
- Paper can be written on, printed on, painted on, dyed, manipulated, etc.
- Paper Mache is permitted.
- Zippers, buttons, fasteners are permitted.
- Limited use of art papers which are not provided by our sponsors is acceptable.
- Art papers may be used on no more than 10% of overall design. If your fashion includes accessories (bags, hats, belts, etc.) they must follow the guidelines as well.
- Consider the “wearability” of your paper fashion when a model is wearing it and walking down a runway.
- Models may be required to ascend/descend a runway.
- Entries can be single individuals or a team. Each entrant/team can show a maximum of two designs. Paper availability is first-come, first-served.
- Be wildly creative! Make wearable paper art! Stretch your thinking about how paper can be used!
